Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
Good for you, thanks for your service. There was alot worse that went on in Abu Ghraib than shown in these few pics. And every US Soldier who was involved was given a BCD with rank reduction, or was sentenced to confinement. I don't think anyone condones what happened there, I think we all agree that human rights violations and crimes, including murder, occurred. |

Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
A typical rethuglican response. Misery, sorrow, and repulsive human behavior don't bother you. Yet reading one paragraph of rational opinion make ya wanna puke. Then, to show how classy you are, you flip 'em off. Big man, pig man HA HA charade you are. |

Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
You know what? The real people who were responsible for this wonderful act of kindness have yet to be brought to justice. Privates and Specialist don't just come up with this stuff out of the blue. Someone knew what was going on and turned a blind eye or had "plausible deniability" over the whole situation. That, and these made really good Christmas card pictures for President Bush and Vice President Chaney.

Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
Yeah, as always it's the little disposable guys that get to have their heads roll, while their superiors that are supposedly responsible for what happens under them get away with it - nice to know that the military, political and corperate worlds have something in common (well, that and the 'follow the money' rule)

Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
Yeah, well, shit rolls downhill, and those sargeants and specialists knew that what the hell they were doing was wrong. I would have rather been thrown in the brig for not following a direct order rather than for torture. Anyone of them should have had the balls to blow the whistle on the whole thing.

Re: Abu Ghraib Torture
Well, yeah. I wasn't saying that the little guys shouldn't have been punished, I'm just saying that it should have gone right up the chain of command to the originators of the orders etc, just like with any other war crimes. Unfortunately, US officials are untouchable in international courts, so all we end up with is the sacrificial fodder being offered up to placate the media. |
