Several websites state her age as 13. Info changed accordingly

April/may 2012. Reported on 3. may a man was taken in custody for three months in the Dominican Republic. He was accused of having poisoned the 13 yo girl with a homemade brew made to cure her kidneyproblems. Instead it killed her instantly. As said, the judge found sufficient evidence to take him in custody for three months.

I wonder what he gave her. Maybe it was an allergic reaction to something he had given to others with no problem? Poor girl anyways, but why wouldn't her parents be talking to a real doctor about something serious like kidney problems.. it's not like she had a cold.

There could be two reasons.

Even in a country like Denmark there is a market for that sort of people, even if they are mostly used when the doctors have given up. No doubt there are people in the Dom.Rep. who believe more in the "traditional medicin" than in educated doctors.

The other reason is even more sad. A doctor might be way beyond what her parents could afford - the local sorcerer simply being much cheaper.
