Davenport, IA - A 15-year-old boy has been charged with assault and banned from riding CitiBus after Davenport police say he assaulted a female driver earlier this week.The boy, whose name has not been released, is charged as a juvenile with assault causing bodily injury, according to a
statement from Davenport community relations director Jennifer Nahra.The city did not release when and where the boy was arrested or whether he was in custody Friday afternoon.

Nahra said in the statement that although this was an isolated incident, additional adult supervision has been present for the bus route on which the assault occurred.

“Collaborative efforts between the (Davenport) school district and the City have helped raise awareness of the importance for all CitiBus riders to abide by the ridership rules of the transit system,” she said.Police were called at 3:45 p.m. Tuesday to the 5200 block of Ripley Street.

According to city officials, the boy boarded the bus at North High School and got into a verbal argument with the bus driver over the uniform application of the CitiBus fare policy.

Bus surveillance video shows the boy hitting the driver in the face before getting off the bus.

The driver was taken to Trinity Bettendorf for treatment of her injuries and was released the same day.

I'm a little confused. She let the other guy ride without paying because he had an ID but no sticker and the kid that hit her had to pay because he didn't have a sticker either and no ID.

So if the kid that hit her had an ID, he wouldn't have had to pay either? Or am I missing something here.

Irregardless, the kid shouldn't have hit the bus driver.

Okay, looked up their policies. The one kid has his ID and could ride for free and the other didn't and had to pay. No racism involved, just the bus driver enforcing a policy.

I still don't really understand the sticker thing...maybe an added security factor.

I understand completely, as i'm a bus driver in the UK.
Black kid tried to get on without the right ID.
White kid had ID but no sticker, but, the white kid was polite and did not argue so the driver did him a favour.
Black kid instantly screams 'racisim' as that what the black people seem to do all the time.

I'll wager that the blacks cause more grief on the bus than the white kids do.
