Re: Rock and Roll Event. Police Watch Fight.

As a cop you just can't win...if that officer had started swinging his baton and cracking bones then everyone would complain he used excessive force. If he stands there, calls for back up, and waits for the two fools to tire out, then he's a pussy or stupid. The anti-police crowd is never happy.

There are explanations...but no one will probably listen.
1.) Maybe it's NYPD policy to call for backup and wait for another officer to take action when dealing with crowds?
2.) Maybe the officer is a reserve and has specific rules and limits on their authority?
3.) The officer made the correct tactical decision. The fight was between two fairly well matched individuals and no one was trying to overtly kill the other one or had an obvious advantage. He waited until his backup (a supervisor in this case) arrived before going hands on with a fighter. You had several idiots actively involved and even more idiots recording the even...well over twenty people of unknown sobriety and unknown allegiance. If that officer had gone hands on and been overpowered or knocked out and his gun taken inside a gun free zone...there could have been quite a few folks killed. He made the correct tactical decision...no harm, no foul.
Did you not see two guys continually punching and kicking the other guy already down on the ground in the corner?

Doesn't matter. In the US, the police (or fire department for that matter) have no statuatory legal obligation to protect you, the individual...period. That's why I'm such a strong proponent of folks carrying and owning firearms. Remember the old saying, "when seconds count...the police are minutes away." What that officer did was completely within accepted policy and good common sense...it's exactly what you're taught to do in the academy. If he had attempted to intervene by himself, he would likely have been overpowered and probably had his firearm taken and used against him or others nearby. He did the correct thing in waiting for backup regardless of what was going on. Did you not read the prior comments where I explained all this already? I, as a police officer in the United States, am not required by any law anywhere, to take action if I don't want to...it's up to the individual officer and his judgement whether he takes any action on any crime regardless of the seriousness of the crime. Again...for the thousandth time here on DR, I don't make the laws, policies, common police practices or case laws, I just relay the information. So you can hold your breath, piss your pants, poop your diapers, write your congressman, bay at the moon, or join the Occupy movement...it won't change the reality of the situation. In this case, the officer did absolutely nothing wrong...he did exactly what he was trained and paid to do. He made the smart, safe, and logical move...getting hysterical and all anti-police won't change the reality of the situation you saw on the video. The guy may well have saved lives by his not taking immediate action.

I can't imagine why anyone in this day and age would go into law enforcement...you just can't win. If that copper had waded into the fighting mass and beat the tar out those drunken idiots with his baton...you'd still find fault and he'd have brutalized those poor mistreated tax payers without justification. You anti-police folks just can't be satisfied.

Do you read nothing I post? For fuck's sake...I just explained this...he will not get fired or disciplined...even if someone died or was seriously hurt. In fact, he'll probably get a commendation. By the way, do you read? I just said this at least twice.

"All he had to do was pull his gun out and say stop." are you fucking kidding me? Are you this stupid? My God...you're an idiot. I gave you more credit than that statement. And what if that stupid more didn't do shit? What then genius? If I was that officer's supervisor and he did what you suggest...I'd have him fired or demoted. Pulling your firearm in a concrete lined area filled with people because there's a fist fight? You're a fucking idiot...really? You're really asking that question or making that suggestion? Holy shit...you really have no idea of what police work involves do you?

See...this is just what I've been saying all along and what separates us...I have thirty years of police work, investigations, and experiences...you don't. Based on your statements above, you have no clue what you're talking about. Oh...and you wish someone died so the officer got in trouble? What a colossal retard. You want someone to die just to try and prove your point? What a dickish statement.

I have an idea...why don't you anti-police crowd actually try to educate yourself about police work, then make comments and cast aspersions. Your comment here are just retarded.

So you're saying if the guy on the floor getting punched and kicked by two guys died, with the cop that backed away just watching he would have got a commendation..

The cop didn't even attempt to get the guys to stop, he was a pussy. Regardless, the last comments was just an attempt to see how easily you're baited to anger.

You're full of shit...you got called on your stupidity and now it's all just a test? BULLSHIT. You got caught making lame assed statements...period. All you have to do is just ask me how fast I can get mad at assholes...the answer is REAL FUCKING FAST. Maybe you can get others to believe you were just setting a clever trap to see if I can get mad...but I stand by my statement...YOU'RE FULL OF SHIT AND JUST GOT CAUGHT.

Re: Rock and Roll Event. Police Watch Fight.

football, beer and steroids...bad combination...roid rat got the crap kicked out of him and by the looks of things he was the aggressor here...

cop did what any rationally thinking person would've done and waited for back-up...can be sure it would've been a different story if he'd seen a knife or gun come out

Re: Rock and Roll Event. Police Watch Fight.

People just can't seem to handle drinking alcohol responsibly. I've quit going to sporting events unless I sit in the really really expensive seats like those behind home plate, because of the drunken fuckwiths causing trouble. It's just not worth dealing these folks...if you punch their face in then you get in trouble.
