Re: Police Officer Punching a Suspect; Man is Now Suing
Bullshit. He got down, but then fought them as they attempted to cuff him. But the officer punching and kneeing him was out of line. There are "pain compliance" techniques that they are trained to use that do not involve punching/kneeing a subject on the ground with multiple officers on the perp. For fuck's sake, using an electronic control device on him would probably looked better on camera and achieved a quicker end to the non-compliance. Now if it was a fist fight, goddamn right that officer can/should defend themselves. But a guy face down who isn't giving you his hands is not a fist fight where the officer "could feel that his life was in danger." This is why some cops hate being on camera. They act out and don't want to be held accountable for getting a little carried away when they're hopped up on adrenaline. Other than officer Punchy McKneeface, little else in this video would be cause for concern. If you don't want officers to hurt your feelings, don't commit crimes -and- don't lie if you did -and- shut the fuck up -and- follow orders. The more you fucking say before you get to talk to your lawyer, the more you're just hurting yourself. |
