Re: Dog Breaks Man's Leg in Half
This video has disturbed me more than anything else I've seen on this site for some reason. I love dogs. What a barbaric and terrible misuse of force, the dude is only a threat to himself. His leg was in tatters.

Re: Dog Breaks Man's Leg in Half
Yeahhhh, once you got him there's no need for the K-9. It was there for no reason other than to maim and maul the perp. It was sadistic letting the K-9 chew his leg muscles for several minutes after they had him pinned. |

Re: Dog Breaks Man's Leg in Half
Getting a k9 to verbal out is nearly impossible. Their jaws lock like alligators- as they’re supposed to so they can subdue the suspect. Pretty much every officer has to choke the dog off or use a breaker bar to get the dog off a bite. No matter how much they train, the dogs still struggle with verbal outs. In the end A dog bite is much better than a fatal bullet wound.

Re: Dog Breaks Man's Leg in Half
Omg literally every k9 does this, find a video where this DOESNT happen. Getting a k9 to verbal out is nearly impossible, officers usually have to choke them off or use a breaker bar. They don’t get the dog off until the suspect is handcuffed because the suspect could potentially get back up and start fighting. The dogs love getting a bite- that’s their reward. That dog did a great job, and the officers deployed him as they should have. They didn’t know what kind of threat the guy could have posed. You’d be amazed just what fists can do. The dog is there to protect the officers, and this was a prime example for it. I’d rather a dog be deployed on someone who is obviously unarmed than someone who is- less risk to the dog.

Re: Dog Breaks Man's Leg in Half
Your comments make me very curious. Are you someone who's worked with k9 units or something? From a layman's perspective, the use of the canine seemed like an excessive use of unnecessary force. Was that leg mauling really necessary? From my limited understanding, I stand on the side of "no". |
