While an investigation did find that the officer entered the home illegally (and I agree with that outcome), that does not give the suspect the right to shoot the cop. The suspect was fully aware that the person entering his residence was a law enforcement officer, so by shooting him, that is an act of attempted murder on a LEO.

Yes it does, actually. This has happened multiple times. Legally this victim was fully within his rights to do what he did, because being a police officer legally does not permit you to do as you please to who you please. The problem is in practice, because the government has a conflict of interests, clearly demonstrated in this case. But purely from a legal standpoint, the one who wins the gunfight is the legally justified party. Since the law is fucking retarded.
