Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

No loss to society here, but still, I have issues with this: They sure did a whole lot of covering ass for the cop forcefully entering the home without a warrant. Lots of verbal gymnastics to justify the fallout of his actions, to be honest. Pretty sure failure to identify doesn't warrant forced entry.

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

I sure would have waited for backup before I kicked a door in. I mean, what if the guy had had a .44 or a shotgun? It probably would have had a different ending.

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

Bad decisions and worse tactics.

IMHO, many (not all) small town cops just have a propensity to fall into the "Dep. Barney Fife" career model, mostly because of a lack of advanced professional training. Usually due to small town budgets. Thermopolis has 7 officers for just under 3,000 residents.

These poor cops typically lack the skills and competence to handle anything beyond congenial encounters. When confronted with hostility, they tend to lose their shit pretty quick. I suspect this guy's extensive military background is probably the only thing that saved his life.

He's lucky that the dead guy was pudgy white trailer trash... just sayin'

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

I lived in Wyoming for many years of my life. It’s a wonderful place but gets too much snow for my comfort. This homey don’t do snow anymore…

That was a helluva shootout!

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

Investigation found that,

He did break into Laramore’s home illegally,

So this cop caused this, nobody else.

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

The criminal sent out his attack cat as a diversionary tactic, then appeared moments later. It may have worked except the cat chickened out and hid behind the couch instead of engaging the cop.

Re: Cop Breaks into Home & Gets Critically Injured

The woman gets the whole trailer to herself now, so she should have thanked the cop rather than scream like a Banshee.
