9 Dead Finnish School Shooting Wumpscut 86 Me and My Walther P22 Target Video

Sept. 23 2008 Finland's interior minister says a man who killed 9 people in a school shooting was questioned by police a day before the massacre but released.

Anne Holmlund says the gunman was detained for questioning on Monday about YouTube postings in which he is seen firing a handgun. She says police released him because they had no legal reason to keep him detained.

She says the man used a 22-millimeter caliber handgun in Tuesday's attack in Kauhajoki, 180 miles (300 kilometers) northwest of Helsinki. Holmlund says he got the license for the gun in August.

Shooting started about 11:00 local time. According to police several people have died. Shooter has been injured and it is likely, that he shot himself at head. Victims of the shooting are evacuated to several hospitals around the Kauhajoki. When the shooting started, there were about 200 students inside the school. Shooter set up a fire at school too. According to Helsingin Sanomat, shooter is 20 years old, but according to information in Youtube he is 22.

Jukka Forsberg, a maintenance worker at the school, told YLE that several people have sustained injuries. According to Forsber, a man with a ski mask went into the building with a large bag. Soon after, the worker heard shots fired.

Updated 16:01: The number of victims is nine. Some of them died because carbon monoxide, not the shooting. Police interrogated the suspect on Monday, because the Youtube videos, but there were no reason to cancel the gun license at that point.
