The guy was not stopped for nothing. As far as the cop knows it could be a distress signal trying to get the cops attention. Police are trained to take that into account. Also, as a former LE Officer I would, especially night look for an excuse (Probable cause) to stop some one such as a broken headight or tailight, riding without headlights or with highbeams on etc. I really did not give a shit about any of these. The main reason I stopped them was that I was looking for DUI drivers, wanted people with outstanding warrants, suspended driver's license, driving with no insurance, stolen cars, burglars who just robbed a house, or maybe a person, drug transporters and anything to show they were up to no good. As long as they cooperated and checked out and did not give me any problems off they went, with usually a verbal warning. All this kid had to do was cooperate and he woild have been on his way. Someone not cooperating and not wanting to provide a name or drivers license is big red flag that somethings up and not right. Perhaps he just robbed someone and is wanted.Police have a very tuff job. They do not know what the other person is thinking or capapble of. It only takes a split second and a slight hesitaion to cost an officers life. Also the cop shouls have waited fo ack-up before he took physical action.

He pulled him over for a legal reason but a pretty weak one. Regardless it could have been over in seconds.
