the simplest, most obvious, go-to way for an amateur to build an electric guitar. which they did, in droves.
and aesthetically ugly in a late-70s way, just like parquet flooring and wicker weave chairs.

I know what you mean, but you're lumping everything with a natural finish together.

It's funny because instruments with a natural finish are both some of the jankiest garage amateur jobs and also the ones with the highest/most difficult level of craftsmanship (like the one in the video).

My first guitar was a Columbus Quest and the body was made of chipboard. And it needed retuning every five minutes
