I absolutely love lightning. Unfortunate we virtually never have it here. The last one was when my kid was about 7, so uuum about 12 years ago. It scared the crap out of him. 1 bolt and 1 peal of thunder. People are STILL talking about it. No really, they are. "Hey, do you remember that lightning? Was that cool or what?!" The only other one I can remember was when I was a pre-teen. 40 now, so that gives you an idea. You'd think as much as it fricking rains here we'd have a better chance of seeing it. We have earthquakes and tsunami, but those just aren't pretty.  |

Nice images!! I too love lightning and severe weather....when a storm is rolling in and causing everyone to run for cover, I am running outside with my camera phone...lol The quality of these 5 images is not that great...but I caught these images yesterday afternoon/evening (7-22-11) in my back yard as some pretty strong storms rolled into my area. They didnt come out looking too bad considering I took them on my Blackberry....lol  Hope you dont mind me posting these here.................  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

I was on holiday in Turkey a few years back, having a drink on the balcony outside the hotel room. Without warning, it just suddenly started pissing it down, real heavy rain from out of nowhere, and the sky lit up with multi-coloured lightning strikes. It lasted for about 10 minutes then everythin just suddenly stopped, and it was like nothing had happened. I've never seen anything like it. Great collection of photos  |
