Re: Famous Suicide Notes
ADOLF HITLER Early on the morning on April 29, 1945, Hitler hastily dictated his last will and a Political Testament to his secretary, Frau Traudl Junge. The documents were little different from many speeches and articles he had written before. After causing the destruction of huge areas of Europe, demanding the sacrifice of millions of lives in pursuit of his political ambitions, and ordering the murder of millions of others, Adolf Hitler showed no remorse in his Political Testament. Instead, he blamed the Jews for the war he himself had started. In his will, he stated specifically who was to be the executor of his will, what he wanted done with his body, and who was to receive his possessions. The Last Will |

Re: Famous Suicide Notes
Lupe Velez was one of the first Mexican actresses to achieve success in Hollywood. Her characters were usually feisty and sensual earning her the vaguely racist nicknames "The Mexican Spitfire" and "The Hot Pepper." She went on to have famous affairs with Clark Gable, Charlie Chaplin, Erich Maria Remarque, and Errol Flynn. ![]() In the mid-1940s she became pregnant with Harald Maresch's child, but he refused to marry her. This is the reason she gave for taking her own life with 80 Seconal pills. Her note read: “To Harald: May God forgive you and forgive me, too; but I prefer to take my life away and our baby's, before I bring him with shame, or killin' him. Lupe.” ![]() Above: Lupe Velez in her coffin |

Re: Famous Suicide Notes
Peg Entwistle's death is particularly shocking and tragic because it is more memorable and notable than her film career. Entwistle was born in the UK in 1908 and dreamed of the bright lights of Hollywood. She had a successful Broadway career before moving out west where she only had one film credit to her name. When the film received bad reviews and her role was greatly reduced she decided to take her own life and did so in a dramatic fashion. She climbed to the top of the "H" in the famed Hollywood sign and jumped off. Her suicide note is also famed as it states: “I am afraid, I am a coward. I am sorry for everything. If I had done this a long time ago, it would have saved a lot of pain. P.E.” She was only 24. |

Re: Famous Suicide Notes
Carole Landis (January 1, 1919 – July 5, 1948) was an American film and stage actress. ![]() In 1945, Landis married Broadway producer W. Horace Schmidlapp. By 1948, her career was in decline and her marriage with Schmidlapp was collapsing. She entered into a romance with actor Rex Harrison, who was then married to actress Lilli Palmer. Landis was reportedly crushed when Harrison refused to divorce his wife for her; unable to cope any longer, she committed suicide in her Pacific Palisades home at 1465 Capri Drive by taking an overdose of Seconal. She had spent her final night alive with Harrison. The next afternoon, Harrison and the maid discovered her on the bathroom floor. Harrison waited several hours before he called a doctor and the police. ![]() According to some sources, Landis left two suicide notes, one for her mother and the second for Harrison who instructed his lawyers to destroy it. "Dearest Mommie - I'm sorry, really sorry, to put you through this but there is no way to avoid it - I love you darling, you have been the most wonderful mom ever and that applies to all our family. I love each and every one of them dearly - Everything goes to you - Look in the files and there is a will which decrees everything - Goodbye, my angel - Pray for me, Your Baby” ![]() Carole Landis was only 29 years old. Landis is currently buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. After her death, newspapers headlined stories about the actress, some with the title "The Actress Who Could Have Been...But Never Was." |

Re: Famous Suicide Notes
Peggy Shannon & Albert G. Roberts Peggy Shannon (January 10, 1907 – May 11, 1941) was an American actress. She appeared on the stage and screen of the 1920s and 1930s. In 1940, Peggy married cameraman/actor Albert G. Roberts. On May 11, 1941, Albert Roberts and a fellow studio worker returned from a fishing trip to find Peggy dead. She was slumped over the kitchen table, a cigarette in her mouth and an empty glass in her hand. She had been dead for approximately 12 hours, aged 31. The autopsy indicated acute alcoholism. She appeared in 35 films during her career. Three weeks after Peggy's death, her husband committed suicide. He shot himself with a .22 rifle in the same chair that Peggy died. His suicide note read, "I am very much in love with my wife, Peggy Shannon. In this spot she died, so in reverence to her, you will find me in the same spot." |

Re: Famous Suicide Notes
Wendy O. Williams Wendy Orlean Williams (May 28, 1949 – April 6, 1998), better known as Wendy O. Williams, was the lead singer for the American punk band the Plasmatics, as well as a solo artist. Her stage theatrics included blowing up equipment, near nudity and chain-sawing guitars. Dubbed "The Queen of Shock Rock," Williams was widely considered the most controversial and radical female singer of her day. ![]() Williams had first attempted suicide in 1993 by hammering a knife into her chest; the knife lodged in her sternum and she changed her mind, calling Swenson to take her to hospital. She attempted suicide again in 1997 with an overdose of ephedrine. Williams died at age 48 on April 6, 1998 of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in a wooded area near her home. "The act of taking my own life is not something I am doing without a lot of thought. I don't believe that people should take their own lives without deep and thoughtful reflection over a considerable period of time. I do believe strongly, however, that the right to do so is one of the most fundamental rights that anyone in a free society should have. For me much of the world makes no sense, but my feelings about what I am doing ring loud and clear to an inner ear and a place where there is no self, only calm. Love always, Wendy." |
