Larry Eugene MANN

Sentenced to death on March 26, 1981. Resentenced to death on January 14, 1983 and March 2, 1990. Executed by lethal injection in Florida on April 10, 2013

Elisa Nelson, 10

Crime:

At approximately 10:30 a.m., 10-year-old Elisa Nelson was riding her bike to school. She was late for school because she had a dentist appointment that morning, and her mother had given her a note excusing her absence.

Elisa’s bicycle was found later that day in a ditch approximately one mile from Elisa’s school. Her body was found the next day after an extensive seach. She died from a skull fracture possibly caused by a single blow to the head.

The same day that Elisa disappeared, Mann attempted to commit suicide by slashing both of his forearms and stated that he had “done something stupid and needed help.” A month later, Mann asked his wife to retrieve his glasses from his 1957 Chevy pickup truck. Upon doing so, she found a bloodstained note that Elisa’s mother had written to excuse her from school. A friend of Mrs. Mann’s reported this finding to the police and that resulted in a search warrant of Mann’s truck and house. Inside the truck, a bloodstain was found with the same blood type as both Mann and Elisa.

Mann had a history of attempted suicides, pedophilia and psychotic depressions.

Ronnie Paul THREADGILL

Victims:

Dexter McDonald, 17

Crime:

Three young men walked out of a nightclub in Navarro County and got into a car. Dexter McDonald sat in the right rear passenger seat. Eyewitnesses testified that Ronnie Threadgill ran up and fired two shots from a handgun into the car. The first shot did not hit anyone. The second shot hit McDonald. The bullet passed through McDonald’s arm and went into his chest. Threadgill then got into the driver’s seat and began to drive away, but he stopped at a nearby stop sign, pulled McDonald out of the car, left him on the ground, got back in the car and drove away.

Victim: Kenneth Wayne Vandever, 24 (convenience store customer)
2 Unknown/Females

Crime: Murder, Robbery, Kidnapping, Rape

On 09/02/2002, in Cherokee County, Texas, Cobb and co-defendant, abducted three victims, a male and two females.* Cobb and his codefendant fatally shot the male victim, sexually assaulted and fatally shot the two female victims and left their bodies in a field.

Last Meal: Texas no longer offers special requests for last meals. The inmate is served the same meal as the rest of the prison which was chicken patties, mashed potatoes, carrots, pinto beans, and sliced bread, with punch, tea, and water to drink.

Last Words:
"Life is death, death is life. I hope that someday this absurdity that humanity has come to will come to an end," Cobb said when asked if he had any last words.

"Life is too short. I hope anyone that has negative energy towards me will resolve that.
"Life is too short to harbor feelings of hatred and anger. That's it, warden."

But that wasn't it. Just before the lethal drug took effect and at the conclusion of his statement, Cobb twisted his head back, raised it off a pillow placed on the gurney and then toward the warden standing behind him.

"Wow!" the inmate exclaimed in a loud voice. "That is great. That is awesome! Thank you, warden! Thank you (expletive) warden!"

Crime: Rape and Murder. Took the life of his live-in girlfriend’s 6 mo. old daughter while using the baby to sexually gratify himself.

Threadgill was executed in a state that did away with special last meals back in 2011. That means for his last meal, Threadgill was served the same food as everyone else in his unit: baked chicken, mashed potatoes with country gravy, mixed vegetables, sweet peas, and bread, with punch, lemonade, tea, and water to drink.
