It also saves tax payer money, frees up our already overcrowded prison system, and provides relief for a grieving family. Why the opposition?

No, but it's good misinformation.

The facts are this, someone kills someone you like, be angry, be pissed, want to kill that person. That is natural. Does that make it a good idea?

Sometimes I'm horny but I don't think raping someone would be acceptable because I had the feelings to.

Nothing you do now will bring anyone back to life. The family who can see the potential for study which can be applied to future situations that actually save lives would hopefully take more comfort in that.

And it actually costs more money to execute someone due to huge legal fees for trials and appeals etc. It comes to over $1 million to execute someone on average whereas to keep them locked up until death averages about $750,000.

Re: 2012 Executions in the USA

It astounds me how people on this site can label "rock throwing cave men" on one video then champion a thread in which people are put to death as a successful way of dealing with a problem.

I can only say that if you really want an answer to that question then you have the whole of the internet to look into.

Any comment I make here couldn't possibly make use of the years of study into the subjects surrounding the issues involved with this.

I can say that I'm not 100% certain on how to solve the problem. But there are certainly steps that can be taken to improve things if people bothered to do the research and let go of the ego.

If you want a list of information to look into then I'll be happy to post it but my experience on this forum is that if I take such information and make a long post here, it's rarely read, and more often completely ignored with the next user simply asserting their misinformation as truth regardless of the long detailed refutations already posted before it.

Re: 2012 Executions in the USA

I was asking for your opinion, being told to search the internet for information regarding the subject doesn't really help me. However, I believe much of the debate is not entirely tangible evidence. I think it comes down to morality and ethics, those of which are different for each person. The very reason why I asked for your opinion on the matter of a resolution to the problem.

Re: 2012 Executions in the USA

Science can give us answers to questions of morality and ethics. Just because not everyone will agree with those answers doesn't mean those answers are less true.

Wait, what? Could you give examples or a further explanation of this?

Re: 2012 Executions in the USA

Would it be good or bad for you to be poisoned?

We understand the science behind what would or could happen as a result or your suffering. We can demonstrate the negative effects that would outweigh the positive. Conclusion : it's good for you not to be poisoned.

Maybe someone who hates you would say it's better for you to suffer...ok, sure, but they're provably wrong.

Do backward societies like some highly religious cultures in the middle east have a moral and ethical view that could be right because it's a "different view"? We can demonstrate the harm that those particular moral and ethical behaviors have on the people of that society and the world at large.

We can use science to establish what behavior is beneficial for human societies and what generates deprivation in certain areas.
