Rodrigo Hernandez Executed January 26th, 2012 06:19 p.m. CDT by Lethal Injection in Texas  Victims: Susan Verstegen, 38 Muriel Stoepker, 77 Crime: Hernandez abducted a thirty-eight year old white female from a grocery store parking lot. Hernandez restrained the victim by placing his hands around her neck and then sexually assaulted her. When Hernandez realized the victim was not breathing, he transported her body to a park and left her in a garbage can. The offense remained unsolved until 2002. In the days prior to his execution he continued to insist he was innocent, however in a startling confession minutes before being executed he confessed to killing Verstegen and Muriel Stoepker, 77, of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Stoepker was homeless and living on the streets when Hernandez raped and shot her to death. DNA had linked Hernandez to the crime, but he was never put on trial because he was already on death row for murdering Verstegen. Citations: Hernandez v. State, Not Reported in S.W.3d (Tex.Crim.App. 2006) (Direct Appeal). Hernandez v. Thaler, 398 Fed.Appx. 81(5th Cir. 2010) (Habeas). Final/Special Meal: Regular prison food. all inmates executed in Texas are not offered special last meals anymore. some dickhead fucked that up for all of em a few months ago by ordering a bunch of food and not eating any of it. so they all lost that privilege.

Ah shit, didn't know that. I wish we had the death sentence here, our prisons are far too full, beyond me why multi murderers get to become a burden on the rest of the country. One of the few things I'm jealous about from your country. |
