Re: 2011 Executions in the USA
I agree Amber, it seems silly to me too. Everyone else in the world has no clue or choice what their last meal is going to be, but they get know. My dad passed away 3 years ago from Hep C/cancer and it was an aweful slow death. He actually died from not eating or drinking the last several days. I think his "last meal" was the fake beer I snuck in to give him. He was an alcoholic too and I just felt so bad that he hadn't had a drink in a long time and my mom was pissed but it was non-alcholic and he was so far gone that he didn't notice it was and that is saying something about a guy who drank nothing but beer and whiskey since he got out of the navy.

Re: 2011 Executions in the USA
Similar thing happened to my grandfather, though he was older so it was just his time, to go. In a case like that, i could understand small somthings, cause it eases their state of mind and relaxes them while keeping them content for the small time they have left, and making sure they are comfortable till they do pass. Prisoners on death row however i dont think have earned this. Obviously since they are on death row and to be executed, while feeding them every day is mandatory, a special all out whatever they want meal shouldnt. |

Re: 2011 Executions in the USA
It is silly, and I am curious as to how this whole 'last meal' thing got started? I do understand it though, I mean the guy is going to be killed yeah, but I guess giving a condemned man something innocuous like a last meal isn't all bad. For some of these sicko's I don't think it is justified, the ones who raped/killed children and elderly should be executed brutally for their crime. I would say throw a gallon or two of petrol on the bastards and set a match to them. But I guess an eye for an eye an ear for an ear would leave everyone blind and deaf right? Some liberal hippy would allude to that anyways. In the real world I think revenge is sometimes needed/justified. I mean if somebody rapes and kills my kid and I can get at them before the state does you won't need to waste 40 grand+ a year to take care of him for 10 years before you kill him because I'm going to serve a life sentence and kill that motherfucker if I get the opportunity. You can bet on it! Family is forever and I would kill anyone who brought harm on my children irregardless of the punishment. I would face the death penalty a thousand times over. Anyways I'm going off on a tangent here... My point is the scumbag rapist's shouldn't get a last meal. But a couple of these guy's, like the one who murdered another inmate in prison for theft, while still abhorrent is somewhat morally justifiable. Prison isn't a nice place and their are 'rules' you must follow or pay the consequences as there are in life. I'd cut the guy a break and give him a last meal. Believe me there are a lot worse things tax dollars are being used for then providing a last meal to condemned inmates. How about the money being used to fund the military industrial complex that uses America as it's personal attack dog. Or the income tax that goes directly into the hands of the greedy international bankers who run the federal reserve and the country as a result? Anyways, great thread! and I really enjoyed reading these, keep em coming. |

Re: 2011 Executions in the USA
My favorite thread on DR. Good to see that the executions are rolling along. One thing disturbing to me is that it seems to be concentrated in the Southwest region of the country. I live in Pennsylvania and the death penalty in PA is a joke. The people know it and the criminals know it. We have a convicted cop killer in jail for decades and still not executed despite losing appeal after appeal. There really needs to be some type of federal law to override Liberal states that believe in rehabilitation and are anti-death penalty. The widow of the officer murdered in cold blood is getting older and she has to wonder if she will die before the man who murdered her husband and was sentenced to die numerous times. It's just wrong. |

Re: 2011 Executions in the USA
Richard Lynn Bible Executed June 30, 2011 at 11:11 a.m. by Lethal Injection in Arizona ![]() Victim: ![]() Crime: In May 1987, Bible was released from prison after serving a sentence imposed in 1981 for kidnapping and sexual assault. Thirteen months later, nine year-old Jennifer Wilson, began bicycling to her ranch near Flagstaff a mile away. She never arrived. Her naked body was found three weeks later hidden under a tree, mostly covered with branches, with her hands tied behind her back. That same day, Bible visited his brother driving a Blazer-type vehicle which he said belonged to a friend. In fact the vehicle was stolen. Police later stopped Bible after a high speed chase driving the same stolen vehicle, painted another color. Within hours after his arrest, Bible confessed to stealing the GMC the previous day and painting the vehicle two hours before his arrest. Inside the vehicle, police found numerous rubber bands but no rubber band bags. The steering column had been cut open and one piece of metal had fallen to the floorboard. A case of twenty 50-milliliter bottles of "Suntory" vodka with two bottles missing was also found in the vehicle. At the scene of Jennifer's body, police found two identical vodka bottles. Identical rubber bands were all over the scene. In one of the first DNA cases, blood smeared on a shirt and worn by Bible at his arrest was tested and found to be the blood of Jennifer. Citations: State v. Bible, 175 Ariz. 549, 858 P.2d 1152 (Ariz. 1993). (Direct Appeal) Bible v. Ryan, 571 F.3d 860 (9th Cir. 2009). (Habeas) Final / Special Meal: Four eggs with cheese, hash browns, biscuits and gravy, peanut butter and jelly, and chocolate milk. Final Words: "I want to thank my family and my lawyers. I love them all and everything's OK. That's it." |
