I know this post will be telling my age, but I absolutely loved her when she was playing the identical twins, Vicky and Marly on the soap opera "Another World". She was absolutely wonderful! She will be missed. RIP Anne.

Anne Heche, 53, has succumbed to her injuries following a firey cocaine-fueled car crash. The crash occurred on August 5th and she was pronounced brain dead one week later.

Anne was a supporter of organ donations. Her family requested she stay on life support until her organs could be donated.

Heche best known for her roles in Donnie Brasco, Return to Paradise, and Six Days Seven Nights, began her career on the daytime soap opera Another World. This role garnered two Emmy nominations.

She became most notable for relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in 1997. They split apart in 2000.

After the break-up, Heche had a mental health emergency which required hospitalization.

Anne leaves behind two sons ages 13 & 20.

In the late morning of August 5th, Anne Heche crashed into a garage attached to an apartment building.

When approached she reversed her Mini Cooper and sped away at a heigh rate of speed. She crashed through a Mar Vista home igniting a fire.

Intubated and critical, doctors state that in her condition, BAC testing would not be possible.

Anne Heche died of smoke inhalation and the thermal injuries she sustained in her August 5 car crash.

The Los Angeles County medical examiner-coroner listed sternal fracture due to blunt trauma as a contributing factor to her death, which was ruled accidental.

According to the National Institute of Health, sternal fractures result from a person’s chest striking the steering wheel, with a slightly higher prevalence in female drivers, the New York Post reports.

Heche was declared brain dead on August 12 and taken off life support on August 15 after matching with an organ donor recipient.

“We have lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend. Anne will be deeply missed, but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work and her passionate advocacy,” the actress’ rep told Page Six at the time.

“Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact.”

On the afternoon of August 5, the Emmy winner crashed her Mini Cooper into an LA home in the Mar Vista neighbourhood, igniting a blaze.

According to eyewitnesses on the scene, the actress first slammed into the garage of a nearby apartment complex before backing up and speeding off.

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division previously confirmed she hit another vehicle before bulldozing into the house that caught fire.

Photos from the scene captured the actress being put on a stretcher and showed serious injuries to her back, while aerial shots documented smoke billowing out of the residence as well as numerous fire trucks surrounding the area.

Heche’s rep told us she suffered a severe anoxic brain injury, a significant pulmonary injury that required mechanical ventilation and burns that required surgical intervention. The actress slipped into a coma and never regained consciousness.

Investigators were reportedly able to determine that the actress was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crash.

She died at the Grossman Burn Center at West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in California.

Heche is survived by 20-year-old son Homer Laffoon, whom she co-parented with ex-husband Coleman “Coley” Laffoon, and 13-year-old son Atlas Heche Tupper, whom she shared with ex-boyfriend James Tupper.

She was 53.
