This is true, and Kosta should have been executed around the time of Oba Chandler IMO But other factors have slowed down the process One of the more unknown reasons was when Charlie Crist was governor of Florida I heard a rumor that Crist told the warden at Starke and his researchers to find all the cases where a child was killed and then go through those cases with a fine tooth comb, and the ones that are eligible or close to eligible to be executed he will sign the death warrant without even blinking He also said he wants nothing to do with any other case up for execution This was backed up by the fact that he and John Walsh were good friends and the inmates that he rubber stamped to be executed (which is fine by me) However he ignored cases that could have been taken care of on his watch on purpose to make sure all the child killers on death row were put down (again im all for that and dont knock him at all) Right off the bat he signed off on Mark Schwab Richard Heynard Then went with Wyane Tompkins All three were infamous child killers in Florida (Tompkins victim was not a child as she was 15, but in legal terms under 18 is not an adult) Grossman was done as a favor to law enforment, and Crist drug his feet on Marek for a long time The point of my rambling is that inmates like Oba Chandler, Kosta Fotopolous, Manny Pardo and the like who commited their crimes in the late 80s should have been put to death under Crist The legal wranglings of death row inmates is ludicrous in any state that has the death penalty I mean in California we are getting close to 1,000 inmates on death row Out of the 14 inmates on death row from my home county of Shasta only 1 has been executed 1  |
