Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
Looks like the hot climati conditions is getting rot the corpses fast And where can find the last NBC interview and reports from Jonestown from 18th 1978, the day of the tragedy? This is a cut image from the NBC footage from Maria Katsaris so the interview is still exist I think ![]() But I cannot find any video or footage from that day, only a few seconds from the shooting in the airstrip |

Thanks for the link, that's what I'm looking for! Looks like hard tropical conditions out there but a well built community (they moved to Guyana because in the US in San Francisco starting some tax investigations) I found the interview at 01:56 with Katsarsis together she's looks like sad brother Interesting for me how to turn out this welcome party to murder the politican and the tv staff and a mass 900+ people insane suicide This Jones was a real psychotic or schizophrenic to me (Jones was a drug user who using LSD and marijuana that years) |

Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
Schizophrenic, definitely! And most certainly paranoid! I don't know how he convinced all of those people to believe anything he said, let alone to commit suicide. I often come to the conclusion that they were held at gunpoint and forced to take that poison. He was clearly out of it, you can hear it in his voice on the tape. How did they not realise?! I mean, I don't care how much someone believes in thier "cause", very few people would be willing to die for it. What would any of us do in that situation? If had no chance of survival, I would rather take a bullet than be poisoned and die in agony, slowly. Or I would lay down and pretend to be dead already. There are so many questions! If you haven't seen it already, I recommend watching 'Return to Jonestown'. It's on YouTube, in three parts. |

Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
Thanks for the info! Definetly Jones also paranoid from the probably continuing tax investigation and many bad news arrives to the US from Jonestown about Jones to molesting, punish and narcotize the food of the members of the peoples temple, and working 7 days in a week often up to 11 hours a day That's what the congressman going to see the situation If you listen the tape you can hear Jones have black helpers around the loudspeaker to progress the suicide and try to stop the panic and play some music to calm down the peoples or try to look like this is a rithual ceremony "Jones told everyone to hurry. Large kettles filled with grape flavored Flavor-Aid (not Kool-Aid), cyanide, and Valium were placed in the open-sided pavilion. Babies and children were brought up first. Syringes were used to pour the poisoned juice into their mouths. Mothers then drank some of the poisoned punch. Next went other members. Some members were already dead before others got their drinks. If anyone wasn't cooperative, there were guards with guns and crossbows to encourage them. It took approximately five minutes for each person to die." In this situation my choose also try to escape. Better to shoot down than drink that orange flavoured cianide potion (others who not want to drink the poison forced to inject with needles or shoot down) |

Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
I hadn't heard that part in the tapes! I will have to listen again haha! Such a sad, sad story. I read that many were injected between the shoulder blades, which is definite proof that some were not voluntary. And did you know they only autopsied several of the bodies?! By the way, those autopsy reports are also available. VERY interesting read! |

Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
Yes I read some autopsy report which describes how the bodies were embalmed before delivery to the US after a few days in postmortem, but the bodies in advanced stage of decomposition. (for example maggots are present and the doctor can not determine neither the woman age or the color of the eyes exactly) Probably the heat and the rain is not good for corpses Poor US Air Force soldiers who bring back the US citizens corpses to America, I do not envy them, imagine the body's condition and the smell after a few days in the heat |

Re: Jonestown Massacre Photos (18 November 1978)
Just finished reading 'Raven: The Untold Story of Rev. Jim Jones and His People. One of the best books I've ever read! However, I reccommend only for people with a big interest in the events. It goes incredibly in depth about many Temple members and how they became involved in it. There are a lot of first hand accounts from the journey of the Ryan group to and from Jonestown, and a lot of info on what happened to the people at Port Kaituma after the shooting and before they went back to Georgetown. More may have died had it not been for the locals near the airstrip. As for the events in Jonestown; it leaves many gaps in the timeline and pretty much follows the tape transcript except for a few escapee accounts. No one alive saw exactly what happened, so we'll never know any more than we do about that. There is still a lot about the final moments which don't add up. Anyway, I'm looking for a photo. I've seen it before so I know it exists. It is taken after the events, in a cabin (I believe), and shows a few of the dead. I seem to recall a woman with her shirt off, on the floor and I think it was black and white. I am trying to find if Little John Victor is there. Thanks for any help! |
