Larry Layton left with Ryan's group and the defectors, he didn't see what happened at Jonestown. He was concealing a weapon, however he waited until he got on a plane and fired at ?Verne Gosney and another defector (I forget her name).
The arm guards fired from the truck at the air strip, followed that up by walking over and finishing some of them off (or trying to) point blank), then they returned to Jonestown. On the tape when you hear Jones mention that the congressman is dead, that is when the armed group have returned from the airstrip, took him to one side and informed him.
I often wonder what Layton is doing now, and how he feels about the whole thing. He was a very devoted supporter; part of the reason many of the defectors kept their distance from him when they left, they far from trusted him and suspected he had a weapon!

Yeah I think the same about Layton what he thinks about the whole thing
If the armed group returned to Jonestown to inform Jones the shooting, what happened with the armed guards after?
They also also committed suicide or escaped?
I think only the armed guards saw and tell more about this situation, everyone else is died in Jonestown

They all died there too. They took the poison after everyone else had died, as they used the guns to force people to drink first and to try and secure the perimeter.
The same guns were use on Jones; whether he shot himself or not, we'll never know
