If we're posing hypotheticals like Diaz / Rory then it has to be done under the premise that Diaz is not retired or suspended.

The Condit / Diaz rematch was agreed to by both prior to the metabolite nonsense. The rematch had to be made because one half the population thinks Condit won the first fight hands down and the other half thinks Condit ran. That needs to be handled one way or another. GSP and Diaz are going to fight no matter what happens. They could fight for a title or a steaming pile of dogshit and it wouldn't make a bit of difference, that fight doesn't need any story lines or build up, all of that has already been taken care of.
Not opposed to Diaz and Rory but there are at least two fights that need to go down before that one thats all.

Diaz and Condit agreed to a rematch already, it was the testing that fucked that up.

Rory Mac does not deserve Diaz yet IMO, he is the #3 WW in the world (Actually #2 cos he beat Condit ), give him a top 10 for sure but not Diaz, Condit (rematch) or GSP before beating one top 10 opponent. You gotta earn that shit.

Also is Rory Mac going to fight GSP? If not then he has no business in beating opponents who have a legit shot at the title, I would rather see them fighting GSP and if they beat him then give Rory his shot. There is some good match ups for Rory and Mayday...

Mayday VS Renan Barao is a fight I'd fuckin love to see. Could be a legit title eliminator, but we will have too see how it pans out first cos Barao has a fight booked already.

Rory is in a strange spot, he is on a bit of a roll but not against elite competition. I think it would be fitting to give him...

Getting favorable match ups in Strikeforce does not make you the number 2 guy imo. "You gotta to earn that shit"

I respectfully disagree, losses from 6 or 7 years ago do not really matter at this point. IMO Diaz has earned it, it's just his temperament that would hold him back. Dana will never stop viewing him as a liability ( some would say deservedly so )

You do make some valid points though.

Most of the fights you named are subjective loses, it's not like he was dominated in those fights and they are from quite some time ago, Diaz out struck Condit too the head and body and in many peoples eyes won the fight, Condit is rightfully the number 2 WW in the world with Diaz right behind him at number 3, if you disagree (with rankings not really meaning shit anyway cos everyones are different) I would like too see what you think the WW divisions rankings should look like.
