The man in the picture at left was attempting to inject amphetamine (speed) into a vein, but instead injected it into an artery. The artery constricted and the blood supply to the arm and hand was cut off. Dry gangrene developed in the right hand, and four of his fingers eventually had to be amputated.
This young woman had just moved into a new apartment with her husband and small child. Her husband and the apartment owner left the apartment complex to look for work. While they were gone, she was murdered by a drifter who knew the apartment owner. The murder was related to the disputed ownership of several pounds of marijuana.
After smoking marijuana laced with cocaine and later snorting more cocaine, this subject became "irrational, crazy, and wild" according to the police report. He assaulted several people, trashed his girlfriend's apartment, and ran naked into the street howling and grunting. He fought with the police and said he was Superman. The officers tried unsuccessfully several times to bind his legs, but the subject was able to break free. He was even able to break the plastic flex-cuffs placed on his ankles. It took nine police officers to finally subdue him. Then he suddenly stopped struggling and died.
The man shown here worked in a hotel. While under the influence of cocaine, he decided to “ride” down the laundry chute in the hotel. He placed a laundry basket at the bottom of the chute in the basement. He then ascended to the 16th floor and went down the laundry chute headfirst. Unfortunately, someone moved the laundry basket before he reached the bottom. He died of massive head injuries. (LMFAO)
This subject had been separated from his wife and children for four months. He wrote a letter to his wife, left a short suicide note, and took a lethal dose of cocaine.
This husband and wife were drinking and snorting cocaine. The wife became belligerent and combative. The husband responded by shooting his wife and then himself.
This young woman was attacked in her apartment by an upstairs neighbor who had been watching her for some time. He had her name on a list of possible victims, and he killer her the day before she was planning to move from the apartment complex. While high on cocaine, he stabbed her in the neck 130 times. During the assault, he cut his hand and left a telltale trail of blood which led straight to his apartment
In this case the woman’s son, who was a cocaine addict, tried to force his mother to give him money. When she refused be assaulted her and nearly cut off her head.
The addict in the picture at left was also on the nod when some prankster shoved a wad of paper into his mouth. He died from suffocation.
The heroin addict often suffers from chronic constipation and may go for several weeks without having a bowel movement. When the body of this addict was autopsied, a huge mass was found distending the large intestine. When the intestine was opened, the mass was found to be 22 pounds of fecal matter. This is an unusually large amount, but it provides a graphic example of what can happen.
The young man shown here was found dead on a friend’s couch. The frothy fluid at his nose and mouth is regularly seen in the heroin overdose because the drug stops the breathing before the heart stops beating. This causes the lungs to fill with fluid which bubbles out of the nose and mouth
The young man shown in the picture at right had used LSD and was having a psychotic reaction. This was his third suicide attempt. On the day of his death, he was apprehended by police in the garage of a neighbor. He said a voice was telling him to kill himself, and he was looking for a way to do it. Later that afternoon he was found hanging from a tree in a public park.
In the early cases, like the one shown here, the glue sniffer would smear glue in a plastic bag and place the bag over his head. He died as much from a lack of oxygen as from the fumes given off by the glue.
This young man was found dead on his bedroom floor. An aerosol can of cooking spray was on his bed. A cardboard tube from a toilet paper roll, stuffed with paper, was beside the body.
The young man shown here shot himself in the head. He was a known marijuana user. A marijuana leaf medallion can be seen around his neck. (<-LOL)
The subject in the picture committed suicide. He was attending alternative school to obtain a GED. Marijuana was found in his car. Note that he had removed one boot in order to reach the trigger of the gun with his big toe.
He committed suicide by taping an electrical cord to his chest and, with his foot in a pan of water, plugged the cord into an electrical outlet. Found among his meager possessions were a marijuana pipe and a small notebook titled “My Death Trip.” In it he had written these words:“I’m lost, I’m stuck here in between, a life that I’ve never seen, and I just can’t seem to carry on. I’ve traveled many miles, but I haven’t gone far and I just don’t care anymore.”
In this case, two young men met while at the beach. One of the men stole some marijuana from the other, then fled. The assailant chased down the thief, retrieved his marijuana, stabbed the thief to death, and then attempted to bury the body in the sand.
The person in this set of photographs was coming home from a party. She was driving at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a turn in the highway. Her car hit the concrete support of an overpass. She was positive for marijuana and amphetamine. A portion of her brain is visible on the dashboard. The pin on her jacket pocket was prophetic
The woman shown here was killed in a house fire. The origin of the fire was an abandoned cigarette left on a mattress in the bedroom. When awakened by the flames, the deceased managed to get to the bathroom where she collapsed. She had marijuana, alcohol, and opiates in her system when she died
This woman plunged to her death by jumping from a tower on a university campus. Her parents felt that although she stepped off the tower ledge, she was pushed off by LSD. They said that she had at least ten LSD experiences and that this led to her suicidal state of mind. She carried a note saying that she had escaped from a mental hospital and that "living was hell for me."
In this case, investigation revealed that about two weeks before his death, this man took, or was given a psychedelic drug. He told others that over this two-week period he had developed mystical powers and proclaimed himself the "Messiah." He said that he was going to die and return from the dead. On the day of his death, the subject leaped into a canal shouting, "I shall return by faith." He never resurfaced. Someone at the scene reported seeing him standing on the bottom of the canal with his hands outstretched like a Crucifix. As far as his prophecy is concerned, he did rise again. In three days his body rose to the surface of the water.
The two young women pictured here allegedly ingested LSD in a soft drink while at a party. They returned home late that night and "slept all day," according to relatives. They were found dead in bed the next evening. All drug tests performed during their autopsies were negative. However, this case occurred prior to the availability of a chemical test for LSD.
The pictures in this series were drawn by a professional artist. The artist developed a mental illness, not as the result of taking drugs. As the illness progressed, he continued to draw pictures of cats. If we look at a series of his pictures, we can gain insight into the same type of changes that are produced by psychedelic drugs.The first picture was drawn prior to the illness. In the second picture, we see the cat is disturbed, and the hair standing up. In the third picture, the background has become part of the figure. The colors are more vivid and the cat is menacing.
In the fourth picture of the series, the cat is still recognizable, but it has become stylized and almost surreal. In the next to last picture, we no longer see a cat but only forms of ears, eyes, and claws. In the final picture, the break with reality is complete. The artist can no longer distinguish what is real from what is unreal.
