I think it's a fake. As a child, I stepped on more than my fair share of nails and based on that experience this just doesn't look like it's real. But the topic about frog gigging made me hungry!!

I have actually had this EXACT thing happen to me. I was running bare foot in the yard and didn't see the rake my father was using and stepped right on it FULL FORCE! 3 of the teeth went straight threw my foot. Took me months to be able to walk correctly. Only thing my dad had to say was "that will teach you to run around bare foot"
