Yes, you're right, mate. The Communist Party of China (CPC) did not come into existence until 1921, after the Russian Revolutin of 1917 (The October Revolution) succeded. Therefore I am quite confident that the event in this photo pre-dates 1920s and the CPC. This photo is surely from the very beginning of the 20th century from the appearence of the executioner. This was time Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) of China was on its last legs, the Revolution of 1911 would soon overthrow it. The victims in this photo could very well be the revolutionaries from that time. Anyway it is a great post. I have seen many pictures of early 20th century beheading, but have never seen this one before. Love the sword! |

The previous two posters maybe correct. The set of images I had found stated this was during the beginning of communism.
