Re: Dr. Ikkaku Ochi Collection
I think the first couple images are of a hydrocephalitic baby. The rest of them look like congenital venereal diseases caught during birth of the individual. I have no idea what the one is where the guy is just compressed into a couch pillow shape.

Re: Dr. Ikkaku Ochi Collection
Couch pillow baby is a cyclopic baby with extra limbs...and yes, I did a google search and the nose/mouthless people do have advanced congenital syphilis. The others look like cancerous tumors.

Re: Dr. Ikkaku Ochi Collection
you state... I have this book, called the Dr. Ikkaku Ochi Collection, that has all these amazing medical photographs from around 1900 in Japan. Most, if not all, of these deformities resulted from the nuclear attack in that area (of course!) Dates, though often always mistaken as the only thing to do with history, are merely a place marker and nothing more. In this case however it makes all the difference. Around 1900 Japan was still around 45 years, August 6th, and 9th 1945 to be exact. Nearly all of the pics are obviously pre-ww2 and look to be syphilis deformities, especially the ones with fucked up mouths and no noses. |
