Re: Che Guevara
I take it all the people in this thread calling Che a murdering cunt are opposed to the death penalty? Or perhaps you all just have a place in your hart for the corrupt paedophilic Batista regime? You hate Che based on the 500 people he executed but turn a blind eye to the 5-7000 people murdered in Cuba by American backed terrorists since the revolution? flight 455 anyone? How about operation peter pan? All good with that yes? Travelling to Bolivia after the disaster that was the Congo offensive was slightly foolish at best, fucking stupid at worst. The fact that Che left his wife and kids to fight another nations war can be viewed as wrong (I take it you all consider the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan murdering cunts?). Che was also wrong to imprison the anarchists. The treatment of gays by the regime was disgraceful but should be viewed in the context of consistent acts of biological terrorism against the Cuban people by American terrorists (all confirmed by independent scientists and health organisations) Dengue fever, Swine fever, Tobacco Fungus and anthrax being the most famous. That does not excuse the imprisonment of HIV infected gays by any stretch of the imagination but unlike most countries much has been done to make up for that, Official apologies and reparations paid to those affected ect. Cuba now holds one of the world’s biggest LGBT festivals in the world and LGBT day is a national holiday in Cuba. Again this does not remove the guilt but who are most of us to judge when our own nations are dealing out a far greater level of force and suppression to our own citizens when faced with much less external opposition and attacks, let alone coming to terms with the barbarity of our own states actions from the past. With the greatest respect using a vandalised Che statue in Venezuela as an example of opposition to Che is slightly ridiculous. They have one of the highest murder rates in the world, crime was a major issue in the recent election, a few kids smashing a wall can hardly be used as an example of the political or philosophical ideals of the people. People who wear Che T-shirts without knowing anything about him are annoying. Just as annoying as the people who hate him without knowing anything about him or Cuba (apart from a few videos they found on stormfront or fox tv) Two years ago an old blind man living in destitution was given his sight back by doctors sent to the slums Bolivia by the Cuban government. The old mans name? Mario Teran, the man who shot Che. I look forward to reading all your statements of opposition in the death penalty thread. |
