Re: **19th Century Photos of Dead People**

Very sad in that a lot of these people Were very young...

...also very sad in that there Were some young children made to pose With the dead. Makes me Wonder What sort of effect it has on them?

Re: **19th Century Photos of Dead People**

The Victorians were obsessed with death, one only has to visit Highgate Cemetery in London to witness the extravagance which was lavished upon the dead, to the point of bankruptcy in some cases. It was considered shameful to send off your loved ones without pomp, ceremony, and the very best of everything - even if you could ill afford it. Highgate cemetery was also the location for many Hammer films. Guided tours are available by appointment only. There's also a nice little Indian shop across the street that sells the most amazing hot onion bahjis. Just sayin'.

Re: **19th Century Photos of Dead People**

very nice collection! it is sad that you can see which families had $$ and which didnt just by the way the room or the casket was decorated, and also by the way the person was dressed. 2 thumbs up!!
