I just meant that in Villisca, the family who was killed also had two overnight guests who were killed also. I dunno. It just came to mind when I read this.

I was constricted about the neck for the first time today by my very gentle red tail boa 5'. Xeno simply did not want to go back into his tank. He squeezed hard enough to really get my attention. I lost vision so I laid down on my bed with him before I passed out, he relaxed, & I was able to uncoil him. A child would wake up panicked & struggling. It would be over very quickly.

I wasn't talking out of my b-hole. My friend feeds live and some of the feeder mice die way too quickly, in my opinion, for it to be asphyxiation. Heart failure, etc. makes a lot of sense. I think it depends on the size and structure of the prey. Just think about what Xeno (cool name!) would do to a smaller animal. Also, if he made you black out, doesn't that have to do with a rise in blood pressure or a restriction of blood flow to the brain? For instance, a headlock makes you pass out from compression of arteries and not suffocation, doesn't it? I think it happens both ways. I don't think it is as simple as we were taught growing up. Also, since you own a snake, what do you think about the idea of a snake making two kills before feeding? That isn't anything i have experienced personally, and seems counter-intuitive.
