Scrape on Boy's Knee Hatches a Snail
Sea Snail Grows and Hatches Out of Boy's Knee After Scrape During Camping Trip By Trudi Bird / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Monday, August 19, 2013, 10:55 AM Paul Franklin shows were the hard, black snail popped from his knee. The parents of a 4-year-old boy from California who fell while on vacation were amazed to discover that a sea snail was growing inside his grazed knee. Paul Franklin, from Aliso Viejo in Orange County, took a tumble on rocks near the beach during a summer camping trip. The 4-year-old has decided to keep the little guy. He’s named it Turbo. Initially, his parents didn't think anything of it, but they became worried after the wound started to swell and become infected. Paul’s knee was swollen to the size of an orange, his mom says, before the snail hatched and the mystery injury was solved. The youngster's mother, Rachael, was squeezing the sore on his knee three weeks later and couldn't believe it when a sea snail burst out. The snail somehow got in the boy’s knee when he slipped and fell at the beach during a family vacation. She told Sky News, "His knee was size of orange and hot to the touch and he's limping." She said the snail, "looked like a rock — it was a black thing and I put it on paper towel and it had whirls and I turned it over and it was a sea snail, and I just like had to laugh." Rather than get rid of the snail the family has now let it take up residence in their fish tank and have named it Turbo. Video here http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/19/health...nee/index.html Stupid mother let it grow to the size of an orange! I don't see me laughing at a child's knee turning hard and black, but, that's just me. I err on the side of caution. |

Re: Scrape on Boy's Knee Hatches a Snail
Thanks, Angel. All I heard was the mother talking about it getting black and hard, (giggity), and I thought she was an idiot! And she, "just had to laugh!" I stand corrected I hope it didn't leave any foreign residue in his system that will turn up later and cause issues for the boy. |
