Forgers took a real, obscure Facebook thread featuring an Adolf Hitler meme and digitally manipulated the name, timestamp, and profile picture of Amin Abdullah onto an existing comment.

The San Diego Police Department explicitly debunked allegations against the victims. They confirmed Abdullah's social media accounts held nothing but peaceful family and religious content.

Amin Abdullah was a 51-year-old father of eight who served his community for over a decade.

During the attack, he intentionally stood in the way of the shooters, radioed a warning to teachers, and saved nearly 140 children who were locked safely in classrooms.

Law enforcement confirmed that the two shooters who killed Abdullah were online-radicalized white supremacists targeting the mosque out of anti-Muslim hatred, not a clash between opposing extremist groups.
