Now after one of the hundreds of aftershocks, the watchtower (Torre dei modenesi aka Torre dell'orologio) is completely gone

It was built in 1213. All the historical buildings of the area that has been stuck are lost forever. The chief of the unit for protection of Cultural Heritage said that "the earthquake has been as accurate as a surgeon", since it destroyed every single historical building: i rather don't look at the list of what we've lost forever because i'd cry
