Damn! Still cannot find a picture of Daniel!

Police say Daniel R. Rickett was drunkenly riding a quad bike when he ran into his own piano wire trap. Hikers found the 50-year-old's body lying near four large plants.

An upstate New York marijuana grower accidentally killed himself with the booby trap he'd set up to protect his plants, police said.

Daniel R. Ricketts was almost decapitated Saturday after he drunkenly drove his quad bike into barely visible thin piano wire strung up around his plantation in Berne, Albany County.

The 50-year-old was thrown from his Honda Foreman, his head almost entirely severed from his body.

Hikers spotted his lifeless corpse and called cops. Police also found barbed wire and a leg trap used to catch coyotes surrounding the four large plants.

Ricketts was pronounced dead at the scene by Albany County Coroner Paul Marra.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple said the rural hills in the county are often used to secretly grow drugs.

"They go up there and they'll grow marijuana on a lot of the state lands. Fortunately hikers, people out and about, neighbors will call us and they'll tell us," he told CBS 6.

Officers removed the plants from the property and are now continuing their investigation into the tragedy.

No shit, I once fell victim to a trap I made with some plywood I'd painted green that I drove a bunch of 2 inch skinny nails into

They didn't go all the way through but when my foot came up the trap was stuck to it.

I have never told anyone this before but when I was in my late teens I suspected/knew damn well that someone was stealing my weed. So when I left one morning I placed a 10kg plate resting between the door frame and the door, thinking if I was downstairs and someone entered I would hear the bang and catch the theif. if not they would bare the wounds and I would see. Went out, returned the trap a distant memory. went into my room and Bang! the weight dropped right on my head!!

For sure.

Close to where I live the Cops found a tripwire hooked onto an old 12 gauge single shot, luckily it didn't get anyone.
If you're doing a good job of concealment someone could be a few feet away and not see shit, they could walk right into your plants and not even know it if they didn't know what to look for..... I'd hate to see someone innocent get hurt.
Most of the thieves around where I live can't help but brag about it anyways, who did what usually gets out

Two of my brothers used to mix their plants in with my dad's garden.

I never knew how he figured out it was there
