Yes, it's not that weird as long as it is freshly killed. People do it in Central Australia when they hit kangaroos (which often happens).
My wife new a Doctor who used to do it all the time with kangaroos and snakes etc
She met him and his friends at some campsite and they gave her some stew. They asked her if she knew what meat it was. Then they told her it was a large python they'd found run over. She said it was really tasty.

Can't blame him

Mr McGowan insisted it was better to eat roadkill than meat from shops because of the way it is produced.

But even then I understood that what I was doing was better than eating meat in the shops because of how it was produced.
