Re: Large Tornado Hits Moore Oklahoma * Update
Tornado alley and yet people still live there and gasp! Tornadoes actually wreck shit. It is like living on a flood plain, only yourselves to blame. Except the children. |

They brought in some fancy engineer who is famous for his shelters. Gonna beinvolved in rebuilding the schools. As some has said. An EF5 is extremely powerful. There are no structures that can withstand that wind force, but underground shelters can withstand such force Poor kids |

Reinforced concrete bunkers, similar to the bunkers on D-Day landing beaches can withstand such things. However its not really feasible. |

Re: Large Tornado Hits Moore Oklahoma * Update
Anyone living here who refuses to check the weather during storm season is somewhat asking to have their ass handed to them. I was born here and raised here. I don't have a basement or a storm shelter, but by fucking God, if Rick Mitchell or Gary England tells me there's a fucking two mile wide, 200+ mph tornado headed for my ass, I'm hopping in my truck and headed parallel from that shit. Granted - not everyone can do that, and for fucks sake, if I'm at work then I have to grab radios and the PD's "Oh Shit, WEATHER!" tub that contains all of our necessary paperwork etc... and 'head fer the cellar'. What I will NEVER understand, even being raised here, is two fold: why doesn't a school built in a city that's been hit by five tornadoes in fifteen years have an appropriate place for these kids to get into? Further, why the hell weren't these kids piled into a bus and driven the fuck out of town? Liability be damned. They had damn near 30 minutes to get them out of the way or underground - WHY didn't it happen? --- /rant. Sorry, this thing hit WAY too close to home and I'm still reeling a bit from it all. :/ |
