Re: Iowa Woman Swallows Tape Worm to Try to Lose Weight
We do not! *Sits in corner glaring with pile of gummy worms, ice cream sundays, reese's, and sugar covered popcorn* On a serious note, we women do eat a lot of sweets. It helps with cramps, stress, happiness, mixed emotions, etc... PMS stands for "pass my sweets", honest. |

Re: Iowa Woman Swallows Tape Worm to Try to Lose Weight
I mean, that's the thing. If you actually pause to think about it, you realize that deliberately introducing parasites into your body is considered both disgusting and bizarre for a damned good reason. Though considering how many people these days don't seem to think past a big flashing headline [a la 'LOSE THREE POUNDS FAST!'] it's [sadly enough] not terribly surprising that people out there would do stuff like this. |

Re: Iowa Woman Swallows Tape Worm to Try to Lose Weight
I dont know if this is true, but a friend of mine told me that he was at a yoga session and this woman in front of him, who was bulimic to him she had gotten on the tapeworm diet. She was nauseous all the time and had cramps constantly. One day during class she passed out and was bleeding out of her ass so they called 911. He said that the worm was unable to survive on the amount of food she was consuming and tried to leave her body during her "downward dog" pose.

Re: Iowa Woman Swallows Tape Worm to Try to Lose Weight
It is believable. Tapeworms grow so you would feel pain and they lodge in your intestines feeding off of nutrients. If that girl didn't have nutrients or enough food it will exit out to find food. Survival instincts kicks in into other species as well.
