Homeless Man Lives in Town's Library for Two Weeks
OCEAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Police say a homeless man lived unnoticed in the basement of a New Jersey library for nearly two weeks. Police say a custodian saw Charles Jones Jr. peeking out a basement window of the Ocean Township library in Monmouth County on Friday night. Neptune police Detective Lt. Steven Peters says Jones told officers he had been living in the building. Police discovered several books in the basement and found the 26-year-old had taken food from the employee break room. Jones was released on a criminal summons. He's charged with burglary and theft. |

That sucks that they are going to press charges. He obviously wasn't a harm to anybody if they didn't even know he was there. Poor guy was just trying to survive. |

Don't know how the system works there but here, sentencing would be deferred by the judge and he'd be put up for psychiatric evaluation first to see if he needs treatment and\or help.

In America, if he was white, he would become a celebritiy and a poster child for the cause of the homeless. If he was black, he would be prosecuted and sent to prison.
