Re: The Braylee Rice Suicide
Totally agree. A person can only take so much before they snap. Bullies need to be brought to justice. According to Braylee's aunt, a few of the kids who were throwing water bottles at her on the day of her suicide have been arrested. Not sure what the exact charges are yet though. Fuckin kids. |

Re: The Braylee Rice Suicide
Who went? You? If so, did you know her well? In my experience, most bullies are the offspring of ignorant, thoughtless or troubled parents. Whilst I absolutely abhor religion, I think the values that religions instill in family life can go a long way to sorting out the FUBAR family situations that breed bullies and fucktards. Having said that, many aspects of religion can be just as damaging. If there's a need to address bullying by a teenager then that requirement should extend to their parents, perhaps with mandatory parenting lessons to reinforce the message and ensure that any younger offspring are raised properly. |

Re: The Braylee Rice Suicide
lol @ people thinking kids can just fight back against bullies. no, that doesn't work when we live in a society that protects the bullies and punishes the victims for fighting back. criticizing a victim of bullying for "not standing up for themselves" is exactly the same as blaming a victim of domestic violence or rape. in both situations, the person faces severe and unjust consequences for standing up for themselves. you can't "just fight back" when YOU'RE the one who will be put in jail, and you can't "just leave" when society protects your torturer. |
