Anthony Criscuolo, NYC Teacher, Charged with Raping 10-year-old Student

Anthony Criscuolo was arrested Wednesday and charged with first-degree rape, predatory sexual assault against a child, attempted rape and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. A Department of Education spokeswoman says the 40-year-old Criscuolo is a fifth-grade special education teacher at Public School 386. CBS New York reports Criscuolo allegedly told the child's mother, in a letter with the school's letterhead, that he was taking the girl to an awards ceremony at a different school. The mother reportedly notified authorities after she discovered inappropriate e-mails from the teacher to her daughter. According to the station, the Department of Education banned Criscuolo from the school and is looking to terminate his $73,000-per-year teaching position.  ·  ·  ·  · |

One of my wife's friends is a special education teacher and I think she is barely pushing 30k a year with a 4 year degree.
