Mother Drowned Her 4 Yo Daughter & 2 Yo Son then Shot Herself in the Chest

GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. A 21-year-old woman called 911 and told authorities she drowned her 4-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son then shot herself in the chest.

Around 10 a.m. on Feb. 16 2010, Julia Murray called 911 asking for an ambulance "because she had drowned her two children,".

Police who reported to the scene in the 300 block of Baumgardner Road found Murray in one room with a gunshot wound to the chest, unresponsive but breathing. A handgun was found near Murray's body and police said it likely was the weapon used.

A 2-year-old boy was in another room, breathing; Ansli Murray, her daughter, was in the same room but not breathing.

* 911 Dispatcher: "What's the problem, ma'am?"

Murray: "I just killed my two kids."

911 Dispatcher: "What's your name, ma'am?"

Murray: "Julia Murray."

911 Dispatcher: "Julia, are you with me?"

Murray: "No, I just shot myself."

911 Dispatcher: "You just shot yourself? With what?"

Murray: "A gun. Please hurry."

Murray was calm as she told the dispatcher she killed her two children by drowning them.

Neighbors who knew Murray said she was a nice, quiet person and a young mom at 21-years-old.

Murray lived in the home with her mother and two children.

Police said the children's father doesn't live in the home.

The grandmother had legal custody of the two children.

Murray and her two children were taken to Southeast Georgia Health System Brunswick Hospital by the Glynn County Fire Department EMS squad.

The 2-year-old, Creighton, is expected to fully recover and was released from Southeast Georgia Health System's Brunswick hospital a few days later.
His mother and sister were pronounced dead around 12:30.
