There is about a 99% chance they did that because they were following protocol...in the case of VBIED's (or regular ones) they HAVE to make sure they are disarmed. in most cases they would just blow them up...but that looked like it was in a place where that was not a viable choice. Therefore they ran ot over with the track of the tank...about the one place that could withstand that blow with a worst cast scenario of a broken track
