A drunk teenager fell like a rag doll from an escalator in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The jaw-dropping 20-foot drop was caught on surveillance video.

Shane O'Malley, 18, could be seen on surveillance video climbing on to the handrail of the escalator as he rode it up.

O'Malley told police he had been drinking, an MBTA spokesman said, but O'Malley said he couldn't remember exactly what happened.

"We had been to a concert -- the Dispatch concert. We had been drinking before the concert and then at the concert and I, obviously, got too drunk and was irresponsible," O'Malley said.

Within seconds, O'Malley lost his balance and fell to the concrete floor below. He lay motionless for several minutes as friends gathered around him.

O'Malley was taken Beth Israel Hospital for treatment. He was released after treatment for a fractured elbow, according to his family.

"My back's killing me. It might just be wicked stiff but it's making it really difficult to get around," he said.

"I've been telling him how lucky he is, but he doesn't really remember much about the fall," said his father, Steven O'Malley.

He warned other kids to avoid making the same mistake.

"Don't do it. Don't drink. It's not worth it. It might appear to have a good time but it can easily get out of control," Shane said
