The position of the knot and the tightness of the noose play a big part.

A knot at the back, as the poor woman in this video, makes for a slow suffocation. She probably did this on the spur of the moment, with little or no research.

A knot at the side, with a 'fall' would likely traumatise the carotid artery, resulting in a faster 'lights out'.

I watched this with Eiffel 65's Blue (Da Ba Dee) playing at the background and they fit together perfectly. I don't get why people film their own suicides. They never make you look good and you'll just end up on some gore site where people make fun of your death. I do symphatize with people who go through this.

I don't think hanging would be a g[d way to go, unless done professionally where ones neck is snapped and death becomes near instant. The struggling to get free is so sad.
