People who are saying the police are cowards for sitting back . Where i do agree with the fact that this situation should have been prevented in someway. If a guy is stabbing another inmate, they can't just rush in and risk casualtys to their colleagues, they have to go in prepared and think of their own health and safety first. Specially when your prioritisng your health and safety over a criminal. They had to get prepared and ready to go in their, although this was in 1994, maybe they were quite slacky still. |

The killers name is Troy Kell. He received the death penalty for this murder and is still on death row using up his appeals.

The guys name was Troy Kell. He was convicted and snetenced to death. He is still on death row at this time. HBO made a documentary about this.

Troy Kell is an inmate on death row from Nevada who, on July 6, 1994 killed a black inmate, Lonnie Blackmon, at the Utah Corrections Department's Gunnison facility. Once in prison, Kell became a white supremacist leader Prior to the attack on Blackmon, Kell had been involved in race-related altercations with several black inmates, including Blackmon. The murder was captured on the prison security closed-circuit TV camera. A movie titled "Gladiator Days: Anatomy of a Prison Murder" was made in 2002 of the Troy Kell/Lonnie Blackmon case/murder and is still available for purchase as of 2007. The movie shows footage of the actual murder from the prison security camera. Kell was put on death row for his crime. Kell was originally imprisoned for the murder of 21-year old James Cotton Kelly (a Canadian caucasian involved in the Las Vegas sex industry). In 1986, Kell and two accomplices lured Kelly to the Las Vegas desert and shot him to death for sexually harassing/abusing an underage teenage friend. I saw the documentary HBO did on Kell a couple years ago and became fascinated with the case for a brief time and seeing the video awhile back just shocked and freaked me out but now i can't watch it no problem i feel like a freak being able to watch all this sick shit the above 2 paragraphs are from Wikipedia :-) |
