Why do people these days need so much attention? I can understand children doing such things, but one is supposed to mature with age.

People don't need anymore attention in modern times than they did hundreds of years ago. The difference is obviously our ability to use technology to reach many people at once around the world. Do you really think that our ancestors wouldn't be just as we are had they had access to our technology?
