Re: Syria-Beheading April 2012
Be open minded? I am an atheist. That means I don't believe claims of a god's existence without evidence to demonstrate it. I am the most open minded type of person in existence when it comes to adjusting my beliefs based on newly found evidence. Infact, I don't even have a choice. The evidence will guide my beliefs until I die. My beliefs will constantly adjust to conform with new evidence. I don't actually assert that there are no gods. (Though I might have in the past) There is a difference. Though, I'm just as certain about a unicorn's non-existence as I am about a god's, I can't actually claim to know that. I have no knowledge about a god's existence therefore I can't believe it is true. It doesn't mean I have evidence that there is NO GODS. As for elections, I realize that an atheist can also be an evil person. But, the evil that person commits, would not be based on their disbelief of claims of god. It would be based on some other agenda they have. The sooner we stop electing people that are childish believers in Santa Claus, the sooner we can have a slightly more intelligent politician. Now, as for being humble, well that ship has sailed. You know what being humble has accomplished for the atheists? NOTHING. It has gotten us a gov't funded catholic school system that receives privelages that NO OTHER RELIGION receives and the non-religious do not receive either. In Ontario, Catholic based churches do not have to pay property tax, yet ALL OTHERS DO. I should be humble about that? I should be humble about the fact that people believe in psychics, and ghosts, and bigfoot, and alien abductions, and supernatural events? No, that is not how we move forward. If people didn't force their religion on other people (mostly children), then there would not be any religion. I get this same crap from people all the time. "Why don't you just let religious people be religious?" Well, I do let them be religiuos. But I will not sit silently about it. I will educate. There are dozens of reasons why, but here's a good one: You don't just respect other people's beliefs for the sake of respecting it. THat is NOT a good rule to live by. Otherwise, I would be 'respecting' all kinds of dangerous beliefs like: pedophiles beliefs' along with the KKK's beliefs, and Neo Nazi's beliefs, and all kinds of other shit. You might not understand why it is blatantly WRONG to sit silent about these issues, but only a coward that is afraid to confront these issues will sit silent. I've been told for years and years by the previous generations that I should "Not talk about religion or politics". Right. If there's a problem...just ignore it and it will magically disappear right? I'm sorry, but the previous generations are FUCKED. Microwave dinners? BTW telling me to be open minded about a god's existence, is like me telling you to be open minded about the possible existence of the tooth fairy. IT'S EXACTLY the same thing. Now...should I be open minded about the tooth fairy as well? Or is it ok to write that one off as BS? Be Objective you say? Ok. Let's look objectively at the presidential candidates for the republican party. Every single one of the candidates believes in the bible. That means these guys somehow made it through university without absorbing a drop of science. Rick Santorum thinks homosexuality is simply a 'behavioral problem' as he publicly states. He doesn't realize that anyone can dismantle his idea through simple reasoning. YOu don't even need to do any science to disprove his claim. You can use reasoning. Or atleast...I can. I am a construction worker with grade 12 education and I have FAR more superior reasoning and critical thinking abilities than EVERY SINGLE republican candidate. (except maybe Ron Paul). But, I'm also a 29 year old self made millionaire. BTW, I promote secularism, which actually protects EVERYONE's religious freedoms. Secularism means everyone has equal rights and freedom to practice their own religion without forcing it on anyone else. Also a secular society's gov't does not fund any religious organization. But, that's not the current system we have...is it? Even though it's clearly stated in the constition of Canada and America that there is to be separation of church and state, there is CONSTANT violations of that mandate and our rights are being trampled by Christians and catholics. Why aren't the catholics (those morally superior to myself) stepping up and claiming that they don't want any special treatment? Not very honest of them is it? Ok ok ok, humble me. |

Nothing would make me happier than to see all of these fucks that commit these crimes to get the same treatment done to them, except while someone shits in their fucking mouths as they gurgle - mother fuckers.
