I'm no expert, but...

I can't clearly see any uniform except the one the black man is wearing, and it doesn't look like a WWI uniform. Here's one American WWI uniform (infantry):



At first, I thought the black man's uniform looked kind of like an American Civil War uniform (1861–1865), but motion picture cameras didn't come into use until the late 1800s, and that man is too young to be showing 30 year old injuries. Maybe Spanish-American war (1898)?

Man, those guys are true heros. I can't imagine the extra difficulty of having those problems in an era where those things were not well understood.
My grandfather was in WWII as a radioman and tailgunner. After he returned safely from the war and 70 some odd missions, he never flew in an airplane again. Even on the family reunion trips from oregon to missouri, he always drove or took the train. I asked once why he didn't fly, and he told me that he left his courage for flying in the sky, and never spoke of the war to me again.
