It appears you don't understand a thing about shock.

I once lifted a 300kg bike wet/full tank) to upright with a shattered wrist. Was only when home 20 mins later, that I started to think "fuck my wrist is sore". Another accident which exposed my knee cap, was also only when I got home that I realised the the "water" on my jeans was not from a gutter, but from my body's blood supply.
I've said it before and I'll say it again:
Adrenaline is a fucking powerful chemical.
Cheese I wish it was like this every time I get hurt. I have extreme pain immediately. I guess everybody's different

The response of getting on the bus and trying to call her seems exactly like something the kids I've had to work with would do. I'm guessing the shock was just too much and he reverted to a "I'll pretend it didn't happen and everything will be okay" behavior that I've seen way too many times with special needs kids. Or I could be completely mistaken.
This is what I thought too. And I think you're correct. This kid had special needs for sure and then add the shock on top of that? Probably didn't know his asshoeee from his elbow at that point

Motorbiking at night on an unlit (and unfinished) road, signed otherwise by the local council. Didn't even know it was exposed until I managed to ride the (broken) bike home. Luckily at the time, my then-wife worked in the medical industry. She was gagging when she applied saline. I did not gag as I still had the adrenaline running in the bloods. Never sued the council because technically should not have been riding that night (licence-wise). It hurt later, I can tell you!!!

EDIT: This is why I usually comment on wearing expensive armor when riding; I don't want someone else to learn the harder way, like I did.Im sort of glad it happened. It has caused friends of mine to survive accidents that they would not have, had I not forced them to believe this. Regular jeans only last a fraction of a second when applied to bitumen at speeds above 50km/h.

Another EDIT: Having said that, have been to funerals too. The accidents described above were on a 500. Just sold my 1250 Bandit to a mate for a bargain, but I GAVE him ALL of my Alpine armor (DECENT racing boots, leather leggings, leather jackets, gloves etc), and SHOEI helmets. SHOEI helmets are more expensive because they do proper testing from multiple points of impact before the sale of each helmet (there are other higher-tier helmet producers which also do this).

or it was a moment of affection - of a mother to her child, holding his hand while walking.
