he was caught, easy enough because we found out his name, he was a marine on a nearbye base. the police however refused to prosecute. they said because he was the same age as my daughter, 17, it was a he said/she said situation. he got off scott free. we feel that the police are in collusion with the marines here to hide and/or not prosecute crimes. my daughter's friend was also raped that night, she was screaming rape and the police were called. when they came to the party they checked everyone's ID and saw that they were underage and the room was filled with liquor they did nothing. they did nothing about the bloodied sheets, (that girl had already been rushed to the ER by some other girls because she was hemorrhaging). if they had checked the back room where my daughter was passed out, instead of just looking at her high school ID, they could have saved her from being raped. they never processed the scene and all evidence of both rapes were lost. neither man was prosecuted. we two mothers pressed charges against the officers, all we know is that they were reprimanded. we're not allowed to know how. we doubt that they actually were. granted, my daughter was wrong to be drinking anywhere, but no one asks to be raped.  |
