Did she put her lipstick on in the dark, or was it while she was driving and hit a pothole? |

Doc, what do you think of Quickclot / combat gauze for bullet or knife wounds? I ask seriously because I have no medical training and live in Chicago. If someone was shot in the abdomen, for example, do I just stuff combat gauze in the wound until its plugged?

Re: Political Leader/lawyer Killed by Hitmen in a Restaurant
It happens a lot in a crowd that panics - especially if family members or loved ones are the literal first responders. Sometimes you struggle to even get them to clear away from the patient so you can start assessing or triaging. As you say Doc, simply keeping pressure on a wound reduces the potential for hypovolemic shock - but people panic and they can't follow basic instructions - or you've got the opposite end of the spectrum, where some douchebag who completed a 1 day first aid course steps up and thinks they are salvation personified. Just step the fuck off and listen when somebody who has the experience or skills is trying to help you to stop the person you love from dying in the street. |
